Laura Strack studierte Theaterwissenschaft, Romanistik und Literaturübersetzen in Bochum, Tours und Düsseldorf. Von 2017 bis 2021 promovierte sie zum Thema „Farsi comune. Topographien prekärer Theaterorte im Europa der Gegenwart“ am bi-nationalen Graduiertenkolleg ›Europäische Kulturstudien‹ der Universitäten Düsseldorf und Palermo. In Forschung und Lehre interessiert sie sich besonders für (Denk-)Figuren des Gemeinsamen, soziale Bewegungen und kritische Praxis, Theater als Ort und in verschiedenen Räumen (z.B. Stadt und Land), Praktiken der Endlichkeit, poststrukturalistische Philosophie und Übersetzungstheorie. Zwischen Theorie und Praxis arbeitet sie freiberuflich mit verschiedenen Kunstschaffenden und Kulturinstitutionen in Deutschland, Frankreich und Italien zusammen, darunter aktuell das Goethe-Institut und das Institut français Palermo, das Forum Freies Theater Düsseldorf, das Nationaltheater Mannheim, die Netzwerkinitiative Cheers for Fears, das Programm Interkultur Ruhr, das Festival Teatro Bastardo u.a. Als Übersetzerin überträgt sie theoretische und literarische Texte aus dem Französischen, Italienischen und Englischen ins Deutsche. Zuletzt erschien bei Turia + Kant ein Sammelband mit Texten des französischen Philosophen Gérard Granel in ihrer Übersetzung.
Laura Strack studied theatre, French language and literature as well as literary translation in Bochum, Tours and Düsseldorf. From 2017 to 2020 she wrote her PhD thesis at the universities of Palermo and Düsseldorf on the topic of “Farsi comune. Topographies of precarious theatre places in contemporary Europe”. Her research interests are phenomena of the common, social movements and critical practice, theatre as a place and in different spaces (e.g. urban and rural), aesthetic practices of finitude, poststructuralist philosophy and translation theory. Intrigued by the inspiring entanglement of theory and practice, she works together with various artists and cultural institutions in Germany, France and Italy, including Goethe-Institut, Institut français, Mülheimer Theatertage NRW, Schauspielhaus Bochum, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Forum Freies Theater Düsseldorf, the Cheers for Fears network initiative, the socio-cultural program Interkultur Ruhr, Teatro Bastardo festival and others. As a translator she translates philosophical and literary texts from French, Italian and English into German. Most recently, Turia + Kant published an anthology of texts by the French philosopher Gérard Granel in her translation.
